The Concept: A Labyrinth of Textures
Our design moved away from traditional slab displays. Instead, we created a labyrinth of abstract, monolithic forms carved directly from massive blocks of stone. We contrasted the warm, porous soul of Polish Travertine with the deep, dense elegance of Indian Black Granite.
Contrasting Finishes: The installation served as a tactile catalog, showcasing the stone in a variety of finishes—from raw matte textures that highlight the natural grain to high-gloss polished surfaces that reflect the surrounding light.
Geometric Dialogue: The interplay of circular and rectangular shapes forced visitors to navigate the space, experiencing the stone’s presence from every angle.
Material Innovation: Lightness and Strength
During our research at the stone workshop, we discovered the extraordinary structural potential of Polish Travertine. Despite its massive appearance, the stone possesses a unique lightness that allows for the creation of self-supporting structures. Inspired by this, our exhibit featured:
Floating Elements: Designs for stairs, railings, and platforms carved from solid blocks that require no visible supports or heavy fasteners.
Structural Versatility: We demonstrated that this travertine is not just a cladding material but a structural one, capable of forming entire architectural components.
Award-Winning Recognition
The bold, artistic approach resonated with both industry experts and the public. The M+Q stand was honored with the 1st Prize for Best Presentation at the Poznań Stone Fair, cementing NOKE Architects' reputation for turning raw industrial materials into sophisticated architectural narratives.
