Hidden Cottage
Falsztyn
Perched on the hills of Falsztyn, overlooking the serene waters of Lake Czorsztyn and the Pieniny Mountains, this compact retreat is a modern reimagining of the regional architectural archetype. Designed by NOKE Architects as a secret sanctuary, the cottage honors the silence of the landscape through a minimalist wooden form. The design features traditional green-stained wood joinery—a direct tribute to the historical Spisz craftsmanship—seamlessly integrated into a contemporary, dark timber silhouette that dissolves into the forest shadows.

Hidden Cottage is a dialogue between raw nature and refined heritage. To ground the building in its unique topography, local natural stone was used for the terrace walls, echoing the rocky outcrops of the Pieniny range. The facade, characterized by its expansive glazing, frames a breathtaking panorama where the lake meets the mountains. A key narrative element is the use of green-stained timber for the window frames and casings—a sophisticated nod to the regional wooden architecture of the Spisz region. Inside, the meditative wooden space offers a warm refuge, where the archetype of a mountain hut is elevated to a masterclass in modern domestic comfort and ecological discretion.
